1.4 describe experiments to investigate the motion of everyday objects such as toy cars or tennis balls

They will either ask you about the AVERAGE SPEED or the ACCELERATION.
(How to calculate acceleration is the next post.)

In both you will either have to record:

  • how far an object has gone after every equal interval of time
  • or how long it takes for an object to reach every equal interval of distance
The most common experiment is to measure a distance on a bench, place a measuring tape on the bench and attach a piece of string with weights through a pulley to a toy car. Then, release the toy car and use either one of the methods above to collect data to plot a distance time graph.
