1.7 determine acceleration from the gradient of a velocity-time graph

Using the equation we learnt before for acceleration:

change in velocity
    time taken

Simply take the final velocity and take the initial velocity away from it. Then put it over the time taken to perform the acceleration.

Examples:

1.
Calculate both the first acceleration (0-2 s) and the deceleration (10-12s)

2.
Calculate both the first acceleration (3-5s) and the deceleration (8-10s).

3. Calculate both accelerations (A&C)

  1. 4 m/s2 and -2 m/s2
  2. 4 m/s2 and -4m/s2
  3. 2 m/s2 and 4 m/s2
