1.8 determine the distance travelled from the area between a velocity-time graph and the time axis.

To determine the distance travelled from a velocity time graph you need to calculate the area underneath the line

Example:

On this velocity/time graph, the area underneath can be split into a triangle and a rectangle.

Calculate the area and therefore distance travelled from this graph.

Answer:
Triangle = 1/2 x 4 x 8 = 16
Rectangle = 6 x 8 = 48
Total = 16 + 48 = 64m
